Room for Rent, Uptown
Hello! I have one bedroom available for December 15th or January 1st in a large, sunny, top floor 2-bedroom apartment with in-unit laundry in an amazing location: two blocks from Montrose Harbor!
LOOKING FOR: Im seeking a female student/professional who is clean, responsible, and laid-back (also: no drugs, no smoking). I prefer clean, simple living, so Im looking for someone with a similar style who will ONLY be bringing furniture for your bedroom (the apartment is already fully furnished!). You would of course have full use of all the apartment furniture and communal spaces.
Looking for someone who likes to have fun and enjoy the city but who is not going to have huge parties on a frequent basis at our place (quiet living). Like most people, Im looking for a roommate who knows how to share cleaning responsibilities equally with her cohabitator/s. ? Finally, Id like to share this apartment with someone who values good communication ? Im not looking for a new best friend, but I do believe in mutual respect and fellowship (just generally enriching one anothers lives).
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF: I am a college teacher. My background is in non-profit work. I have two cats, who I think are endlessly entertaining. I previously lived in Ecuador and Northern Ireland and have been living in Chicago for the past six years. I am interested in museums, theatre, the arts, and everything awesome about Chicago (architecture, diverse neighborhoods, multicultural events, cool bars, etc.) I am an active salsera and love to go out dancing and exploring the city, but I generally maintain a quiet living space.
Maintaining a CLEAN apartment with good energy and flow is important to me. When the rental management company came to inspect my last apartment to make sure it was ready to show potential renters, they commented on how nicely the apartment was decorated and asked if I had hired a professional decorator ? nope! I just love creating a beautiful space to live in. I collect antique furniture and some other antiques, including blue cobalt glass and blue Danish plates.
THE SPACE: Its a gorgeous, top-floor apt. (3rd floor) with brand-new hardwood floors and lots of windows and light, with the bedrooms located on either end of the apartment (good for privacy). One of the best perks: in-unit laundry! Theres a large kitchen, a back porch (you can use my big gas grill!), a pantry, a dining room, living room, and small sunny office room. In the back of the building there is a shared courtyard that has been transformed into a beautiful garden/patio area (see pics). The neighbors are friendly, and its a great area to hang out!
The location is amazing, too?right near Montrose beach and harbor, all the bars/restaurants in Buena Park/Uptown, and is right on several bus lines and accessible to the L. Its also 2 blocks away from a brand-new gym next to the Jewel on Montrose Ave. It is a fantastic deal for the location and the beauty of the apartment!
RENT DETAILS: Your rent would be $775/month, plus utilities (electricity/gas/internet). You would sublease a current lease that began June 1, with option to renew June 1, 2020. **You can move in with bedroom furniture, but the rest of the apartment is fully furnished.**
If you think you might be a good fit, respond to the ad via email and we can chat about whether our housing styles/interests might match well. In your message, please make sure to directly address the following points:
1) that you are okay with only moving in with furniture/stuff for your bedroom, as the rest of the apartment (inc. kitchen) is fully furnished (there is a storage room);
2) that you are okay with living with two cats (no additional pets allowed);
3) your job and how long have you been there; and
5) the strength of your credit score. Youll need to do a credit check to apply for the lease, and my landlord only accepts applicants with strong credit scores.
