Praxis Collaborative Chicago, a housing cooperative located in the Uptown neighborhood is currently accepting residency applications for the fall/winter season. The mission of Praxis Collaborative Chicago is to provide affordable housing for folks involved with (or interested in) social justice movement building. The collective is composed of a diverse group of people with various racial, ethnic, national, religious, generational, and political backgrounds. Additionally, we are a open minded affirming space whose current membership is comprised of folks with a spectrum of sexual and gender identities.
Praxis Collaborative Chicago has over 10,000 square feet of space and has an average capacity of 18-20 people. We have plenty of common rooms available: 2 kitchens, library, recreational room, multi-media room, office, bike storage room, and music room. The space is accessible by public transportation (only a few blocks from the Lawrence red line and directly in front of the 151 Sheridan bus).
Praxis monthly residency share (rent) is $650 per month and includes all utilities including wifi and communal grocery expenses. There is also an additional $650 residency fee (security deposit) due before move-in which is refundable after a residents departure from Praxis.
Praxis current residential contracts can be provided anywhere from a 1-12 month non-member residential period. Those that want to apply to be members of Praxis Collaborative Chicago may do so after they have been here for a minimum of six months.
